The Elephant® Beta De-Icer
The core concept of the Elephant® Beta is to provide the operator with the shortest spraying distance and at the same time provide the largest possible operating range. The long-reach telescopic spray boom enables fast and effective operation while minimizing fluid consumption.
This concept enables minimum truck positioning operations and maintains a safe distance between truck and aircraft. The main lifting boom operates vertically above the centreline of the unit, allowing the operator to maintain a firm sense of reference/fix-points. The concept provides an unmatched stability even in the most harsh working conditions and positions.
 The boom extends to a maximum length of 10 m (33') and provides a vertical nozzle reach of 19 m (63'). - The Elephant® Beta is excellent for remote de-icing. This is becoming increasingly attractive as today's modern airports demand time reduction between de-/anti-icing and take-off to reduce the required hold-over time. This not only reduces glycol consumption, but eases glycol collection as well.
- The operator's cabin easily holds - and is of course certified for - two persons. It is ergonomically designed to provide operator comfort for extended periods of operation. Together with the unit's stability it provides the operator with unsurpassed working conditions and an excellent view.
- The spraying nozzle's unique manoeuvrability allows backwards spraying towards the operator, enabling correct wing de-icing by spraying from the leading edge and backwards, while the truck is positioned behind the trailing edge of the wing without spraying towards flaps, rudders etc. Contact sensors are placed at the nozzle to stop hydraulic movement, to avoid damage to aircraft.
